In 2009 I joined the factory Aprilia team which was returning to SBK. I took a double podium in round 2 at Qatar, and scored solid points. I can remember our first win quite well in Brno: the two race leaders Michel Fabrizio (also a Roman like me) and Ben Spies collided and crashed out, and I took the win. In 2010 I continued with Aprilia, and I took an amazing double victory at our home race at Monza. Another double in the USA moved me to first place in the championship. At the end of the season I became Aprilia's and Italy's first Superbike World Champion. I am quite proud of that result...

My RSV 4 is a pure-breed track animal. It is great for both tight and wide, fast corners: be it 150 mph sweepers or 50 mph hairpins. Traction is great, balance is great... This bike adapts to all situations and track geometries, it's quite versatile. The agility is amazing, and the corner entrance speed is even higher than with a 600cc bike.

I have felt some chattering on very specific occasions, but usually we were always able to find a solution and not lose too much traction.
